COSMIC set the challenge of developing a recycled material with the technical and aesthetic level required to be integrated into its line of high-end bathroom accessories and fittings, while maintaining the quality standards expected in the premium segment.

The work included the exploration and validation of different waste sources, ultimately consolidating a formulation based on plastics from end-of-life refrigerators and white goods, stabilized through the addition of recovered material from yogurt packaging. In parallel, the supply chain and process sequence required to ensure a traceable and industrializable material were defined.

In addition to ensuring technical performance, the material’s aesthetics were designed by working on both the formulation and injection molding parameters, with the aim of achieving a finish consistent with the product’s design language and the demands of the high-end market.
