Design of recycled materials based on complex waste from the furniture industry
Grau Space, 2024
A project developed in collaboration with Grau, focused on designing materials from complex waste generated by the furniture industry—waste that is typically difficult to recover due to its composition of mixed layers, coatings, and adhesives.
The work centered on the valorization of waste streams—such as phenolic boards, melamine-faced panels, and medium-density fiberboard (MDF)—transforming them into a new, moldable material with tunable properties, suitable for use in various components and product solutions. The outcome establishes an industrial pathway for reintroducing this type of waste into new cycles of use, turning it into a resource with both technical and aesthetic value within the company’s materials portfolio.
