Design of recycled materials based on complex waste from the furniture industry
Grau Space, 2024
Project developed together with Grau, focused on the design of recycled materials derived from complex waste streams from the furniture industry, which are typically difficult to recover due to their combination of layers, coatings, and adhesives.
The work was based on the valorization of waste flows such as phenolic boards, melamine panels, and MDF, transforming them into a new moldable material with adjustable performance and potential application in components and product solutions. The result opens up an industrial pathway to reintroduce this type of waste into new use cycles, turning it into a resource with technical and aesthetic value within the company’s material portfolio.
