Palau Moxó coffee table
Il·lacions, 2022

Palau Moxó is a unique space steeped in history. It's the last Baroque palace that remained inhabited by its former owners, the Marquises of Sant Mori. In 2017, after its sale, Xavier Franquesas was tasked with designing its remodeling and adaptation for contemporary uses. He envisioned a collaborative project in which over twenty designers and artists from Barcelona, including us, were responsible for designing the furniture and equipment collection for Palau Moxó in this new phase.

We were given the challenge of designing the auxiliary and center tables for the living rooms and suite. Despite being considered minor pieces, for us, it was a significant challenge. These pieces play a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience in the space in terms of comfort and balance, but they must remain visually understated and allow sofas and rugs to take the spotlight.

Our approach involved creating a family of circular tables with a central base and one or multiple tops of different diameters. Both the base and the top are made from post-consumer recycled plastic with an aesthetic treatment that evokes the baroque marbled finishes in contrast with the gilded structure that connects the two elements of the table. These are modern materials with low environmental impact in dialogue with the stylistic tradition of the environment where they will be used.
