Recycling Kit for the visualization of hardware recycling processes
HP, 2025
The Recycling Process Kits, designed together with the HP Planet Partners team, are a tool created to clearly explain how HP recycles its hardware and ink and toner cartridges. The challenge was to make visible a process that is usually unseen: what happens to these products when they are returned to HP, how they are sorted, disassembled, and transformed, and which materials are recovered so they can re-enter the circular economy.
Three kits were designed, for Hardware, Ink, and Toner, aligned with the different recycling streams of the HP Planet Partners program. Every detail was developed with real-use criteria in mind: a size similar to a 15-inch laptop, optimized weight, secure closure with hidden magnets, interchangeable surfaces, and a robust structure. All of this ensures content protection, ease of understanding, and long service life.
The result is an experience that combines information, interaction, and materiality: graphics explaining each stage, compartments containing shredded waste, separated material fractions, and drawers with samples of recycled materials ready to be transformed into new products.
