UBox, a device for the thermal characterization of materials
UIB, 2025
HotBox is an instrument for the thermal characterization of materials and building components, designed to accurately and efficiently measure the thermal resistance of samples with varying geometries and thicknesses.
The project is based on a functional prototype developed by the University of the Balearic Islands, which OiKo supported through technical development, product redesign, and industrialization, optimizing electronics integration, system usability, and manufacturing processes. The result is a compact, robust, and easy-to-use device that reduces testing complexity while keeping measurement error within regulatory requirements.
HotBox combines scientific rigor, product design, and industrial vision with the aim of ensuring experimental accuracy, reducing operational complexity, and facilitating future serial manufacturing for research and laboratory environments.
