Exhibition "Scenarios of a near future"
Centro del Carmen Cultura Contemporánea, 2022
The Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània in Valencia presents the exhibition "Scenarios of a Near Future," an exhibition that explores the potential changes the domestic environment might undergo in the coming years. Alongside Alejandra Gandia-Blasco and Rocío Gambin, we introduce the exhibition with "8' 33"," a collection of basic household equipment designed for nomadic lifestyles.
"8' 33''" represents 500 seconds, ample time to assemble the entire collection. Its components can be easily assembled and disassembled through a snap-fit system using slots, allowing for flat-pack transportation. Designed by Alejandra Gandia-Blasco and Rocío Gambin, the elements of "8' 33''" are based on a grid created by Thomas Lommée, the driving force behind the OpenStructures platform. This means they are available as an open design and can be manufactured by anyone. Our role in this project was to provide the material, recycled plastic sourced from detergent and soap containers, with a novel aesthetic inspired by various types of marble.
